M6 replay… blocked from US

One of the most popular french TV channel created a website to allow web users to watch online all the TV shows from the last two weeks. That’s a really good idea… but… The website is only available from France… all connections coming from other country are blocked… That’s a shame! They should think about french speaking people living abroad….

Thinking about it, their behavior really makes sense. M6 makes money with this website by selling advertising time to french companies. Since the impact of french ads on people outside of France is negligible, companies are not willing to pay for an ad being seen by these people. So because M6 won’t make any money with french expatriates, they don’t want to waste additional bandwith for them.

Man, I’m sure you must have a proxy somewhere, right?

Oh and hulu.com does the same thing with US channels, btw, which is rather frustrating as well.
